A Letter from Christine Wanjura
Principal of Christ The King Cathedral School
Dear Parents and Prospective School Parents,
On behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to welcome you to Christ the King Cathedral School. Since its beginning in 1957, our school has achieved a well-deserved reputation for setting high academic standards for its students while providing a nurturing Christian environment. The results of those efforts have allowed the students of Christ the King to continue their educational careers well prepared. The balance of having a quality education as well as a solid formation in faith is invaluable.
Christ the King School offers a distinctive education that aims to give students the formation necessary to lead a full and Christian life. A common core of beliefs that generate a community climate characterizes this distinctiveness. We integrate the teachings of the Church and create a Christian atmosphere that incorporates gospel values into daily life. We build a community of faith and recognize Christ as our model and inspiration. We give expression to our faith in the form of liturgy, prayer, and service as part of a larger faith community. We express concern for others with a focus on social justice. We reach out in faith to those in need in our community.
The dedicated teachers of Christ the King School understand the importance of setting high academic standards for their students. Students are taught organizational and study skills in the primary grades that are utilized not only in Junior High and High School, but throughout life. When graduates leave Christ the King school they are extremely successful in the continuation of their education and typically have a great work ethic that they carry with them in their careers and in life.
Christ the King School is fortunate to have the support and leadership of Bishop Plácido Rodriguez, Bishop of the Diocese of Lubbock and Monsignor Ben Kasteel, pastor of Christ the King Cathedral. They are extremely supportive of Catholic education, and with their enthusiasm and dedication I believe that we will see new opportunities for growth in the Catholic educational system in the Diocese of Lubbock.
Thank you for your interest in our school. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an observation time for some our classes, please call the school office at 795-8283. I would be happy to visit with you.
Sincerely in Christ,
Christine Wanjura, Principal
