Christ the King Cathedral School Athletic Booster Club Bylaws
Approved May 6, 2008

Article I - Name
The name of the organization shall be known as the Christ the King Cathedral School Booster Club (“Booster Club”)

Article II - Purpose

Section  1. The purpose of the “Booster Club” is to actively support the Athletic Department at Christ the King Cathedral School and to promote spirit and tradition for all athletic programs.

Section  2. The “Booster Club” shall actively sponsor fundraising activities for the financial support of all athletic programs and will encourage all supporters to volunteer for the benefit of the athletic program.

Article III – Organization

Section 1.  The Booster Club shall be a standing committee of the Christ the King Cathedral School Board, in accordance with the Charter and Bylaws of Christ the King Cathedral School.  All action taken by the Booster Club shall be taken under the supervision of the Pastor and the Principal, and the Booster Club shall follow the directions of the Pastor, Principal, and School Board
Section 2. Any fundraiser or other Booster Club sponsored activity must adhere to fundraising and activity guidelines of Christ the King Cathedral School, and must be approved by the Pastor and the Principal.
Section 3.  All property and funds acquired by the Booster Club shall be held in the name of Christ the King Cathedral, but will be specifically allocated to the Booster Club, or otherwise at the direction of the Pastor and the Principal.
Section 4.  The “Booster Club”  shall not engage in any activity prohibited by 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or by any federal, state, or local law, or inconsistent with any compact, agreement, sponsorship, or membership of Christ the King Cathedral School (eg., TAPS, PSIA, TCCAC, etc).

Article IV - Membership

Section  1. The “Booster Club” is a volunteer organization consisting of parents/guardians, faculty, alumni, coaches, administrators, and friends dedicated to supporting our student athletes.

Section 2. Membership is open to any person or business entity whose interest and participation is supportive of the purpose of the “Booster Club”.

Section 3. Members must pay dues as determined by the “Booster Club”. Membership is renewable on an annual basis.

Section 4. Membership shall be divided into the following categories:

  1. Family
  2. Faculty
  3. Alumni
  4. Diocesan/Parish
  5. Trojan
  6. Corporate

Section 5. Members are required to follow the rules and policies of CTK Cathedral School and the “Booster Club”. Members must exhibit good sportsmanship and decorum associated with athletic events. Members will receive an annual letter from the Athletic Director regarding our Athletic Events and Sportsmanship.

Article V – Meetings

Section 1. The “Booster Club” shall hold monthly meetings as deemed necessary by the Board of Directors and the Athletic Director.

Section 2. The quorum for any meeting will be a majority of the members present. Written proxies are allowed at the meetings.

Article VI – Board of Directors

Section 1. The Board of Directors shall consist of officers that are elected by the members at an annual meeting. The Pastor of CTK Cathedral and Principal and Athletic Director of CTK Cathedral School shall serve as non-officer members on the Board of Directors.

Section 2. The Board of Director officers shall consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Section 3. All Officers shall be elected at an annual meeting and assume their responsibilities immediately upon election. The term of office shall run until the last day of the school year or until another meeting is held to elect officers, whichever occurs first.

Section 4. The President shall appoint Chairpersons for as many events/duties as deemed necessary. These appointments follow the same term as the Board Members.

Article VII – Duties of Officers

Section 1. The President,

  • shall preside at all meetings of the “Booster Club”
  • shall serve as Chairperson of the Board of Directors
  • shall lead the Board in accordance with the Bylaws
  • shall attend School Board Meetings to advise of the “Booster Club”
  • shall run the meetings under Parliamentary procedure contained in ROBERTS RULES OF ORDER

Section 2. The Vice President,

  • shall serve in the capacity of President when the President is absent for meetings or activities
  • shall assist the President in the execution of their duties

Section 3. The Treasurer,

  • shall be responsible for all monies collected and disbursed by the “Booster Club”
  • shall keep accurate records and of the same and report monthly to the members
  • shall be responsible fiscally for all funds
  • shall prepare a budget and submit to the Board of Directors annually

Section 4. The Secretary,

  • shall be responsible for maintaining a current list of the members
  • shall be responsible for recording all minutes at the meetings and publish these to the members
  • shall be responsible for all communications to members

Article VIII – Bylaws

Section 1. These bylaws may be amended from time to time by a majority vote of the members present at the meeting.

Section 2. Any bylaw change request must be submitted in writing to the Board in advance of the next upcoming meeting. The Board, at its discretion will determine if the change has cause and will be addressed the next meeting. If the Board declines to present it at the next meeting, then a special meeting of the members may be called for that specific change.

Section 3.  No bylaw change will be allowed which would conflict with the charter or bylaws of Christ the King Cathedral School.

Article IX– Finances

Section 1. All monies collected by the “Booster Club” shall be kept in a separate account with the same guidelines of other organizations within the realm of Christ the King Cathedral School. These monies will be held for the benefit of the “Booster Club”.

Section 2. Any disbursement of monies must be made in accordance with the budget. The disbursement of monies will be provided at the request of the Athletic Director. Once the “Booster Club” has approved disbursement, the funds necessary to complete that disbursement will be “restricted” and those funds will no longer be available for other use. Such funds shall remain “restricted” until spent or until the members vote to remove the restriction. At no time can any request jeopardize the solvency of the “Booster Club”. That request will automatically be declined.

Article X – Special

Section 1. The “Booster Club” exists only to support CTK Cathedral School’s competitive athletic programs.
Section 2. The “Booster Club” must also follow all rules governing the School such as TAPPS, WTCAA, etc.
Section 3. The “Booster Club” wants to embrace our Christian community and promote our athletic programs by inspiring the involvement of the entire community including its members.
Section 4. The “Booster Club” wants to make sure we all recognize our student athletes and coaches and highlight their achievements.
