Christ the King Cathedral School Foundation
Announces 5th Annual Membership Drive
For more than 20 years, the Christ the King Cathedral School Foundation has existed for the advancement of Catholic education and financial support of Christ the King Cathedral School. Five years ago, the Foundation launched the first Friends of the Foundation annual membership drive to further this mission. The tradition continues this year as many exciting changes are taking place at CTK.
Donations continue to be a major source of growth of the Foundation’s endowment fund, and money is set aside for investing with a portion of the income donated back to the school each year. Past years’ Foundation donations have assisted the school with advertising campaigns, computer upgrades, enhancing library study aids, and funding for many programs in all grades at CTK.
During the past school year, the Foundation was pleased to announce that many individually named endowment funds had reached levels where financial scholarships could be awarded to CTK students. Also last year, Dr. Kishor Mehta donated funds to establish the Foundation’s largest named endowment fund to date in memory of his late wife, Mary Ann Mehta. In May, the first Mary Ann Mehta Endowed Scholarship was awarded providing a scholarship for full tuition to one CTK high school student. At the same time, partial scholarships for tuition and book fee assistance were awarded from five other named endowment funds. In total, $6100 in scholarship funds was awarded to twelve CTK students.
We invite you to assist the Foundation with its mission by becoming a Friend of the Foundation for the 2008-2009 school year. Membership can be obtained for as little as $50.00. Please see the back of this letter or the enclosed response form for the various friendship level options. By responding before September 24, 2008, you will be invited to attend the 5th annual membership dinner on October 8, 2008.
At this year’s dinner, we will continue the tradition of honoring recipients of two annual awards given by the Foundation. Long-time Christ the King supporters, Betty Bessire and her late husband, Loyal Bessire, will be honored with the Roberta Meyer Award recognizing excellence in the furthering of Catholic education. Additionally, Orlando’s & CapRock Café co-owner, David Cea, from CTK’s Class of 1976 will receive the CTK Alumni Award recognizing the successes of CTK alumni. Also, in appreciation of his generous gift to establish the Mary Ann Mehta Endowed Scholarship Fund, Dr. Mehta will also be recognized at the annual dinner.
Please complete the enclosed response form and return it to the address listed as soon as possible but no later than 9/24/08. For additional information please contact Christy Duran at the school development office or feel free to speak with any Foundation Board member. Thank you in advance for your prayerful consideration!
